Advent

There are so many traditions we've started as a family in the last few years that just make the holiday season so special. One of these is being really intentional about talking with our boys about the birth of Jesus and why we celebrate Christmas. For the past three years we've done Advent Jesse Tree which is a book containing devotions each day of December leading up to Christmas that tell the story of Jesus' coming. There is also an ornament that goes along with each devotion that the kids hang on their own little tree. It's been such an amazing way to talk about the true meaning of the season and have family time together.

What traditions do you do as a family that make the season special?

We are doing Advent Jesse Tree for the first time this year! It is awesome! Kaden loves opening the ornament every day and hanging it. He's getting snippets of the stories as well. It is so neat.

Each year, I give the boys a new Christmas book and we only have our Christmas books out for the month of December...so they are new and exciting each year. They are going to start getting new jammies to open on Christmas Eve to wear to bed that night also.

There are so many little things we are starting to do. It is so fun! It is so amazing to get to share with them God's love, especially this time of year.

These are great photos, Kimberly! I especially love the one of both your boys looking at the nativity scene.

Neither Tim nor my family did advent growing up so we haven't implemented that tradition w/ our girls...but maybe we should.

Thanks for sharing a little more about your family.

P.S. How is your pregnancy going?
